OLD FORGE

The way of the wanderers and merchants from the Budissiner Gefilde was once arduous and led here at a ford over the river.

Often help was needed to make the difficult crossing with horse and cart. If there was damage to vehicle or steed, wainwright (wagon maker) and blacksmith had a lot to do.

As early as 1578 a blacksmith's shop was first mentioned in a document.

Over many years, this old manor smithy developed into a modern locksmith and metal construction company, which still produces today.

Originally, the forge consisted of a half-timbered house, which was rebuilt in 1815 after a fire.

The current residential and commercial building was built in 1890.
